Color-blocking: fun or crazy?
This fashion trend certainly will not go unnoticed and from catwalks, from Prada to Gucci, from Louis Vuitton to Marc Jacobs, it comes in our timid wardrobe.
Color block: allegro o pazzo?
Questa moda non passerà certamente inosservata e dalle passerelle, da Prada a Gucci, passando per Louis Vuitton e Marc Jacobs, arriva nel nostro timido guardaroba.
We can define the color-blocking as the “art” of pairing in our way of dressing different colour sections, in contrast and strictly vibrant.
I wrote “art” because, sometimes, it can be difficult to match so vivid colours without looking like an Harlequin.
In these cases, how to do?
Wear a monocromatic dress, add shoes and take a purse with complementary colours, and you’re done!
Potremmo definire il color block come l’ “arte” di abbinare, nel nostro abbigliamento, sezioni di colori diversi, a contrasto e rigorosamente vibranti.
Ho scritto “arte” perchè, alle volte, potrebbe risultare difficile abbinare colori così vivaci senza sembrare un Arlecchino fuori luogo.
In questi casi, come fare?
Prendete un abito monocolore e aggiungete scarpe e pochette di colori complementari, ed il gioco è fatto!

This is the fun part of the post, it is the time of my
first tutorial!
The color-blocking can easily be exported on our hands, but you must have patience and a lot of bright nail laquers.
You can divide, by using two different colours, your nails diagonally or vertically, as that little photo above, or you can use more polishes.
For this manicure you will need:
– A base,
– 2 or 3 bright nail laquers,
– adhesive manicure strips,
– A thin brush with synthetic bristles (you can find them for a few euros in a paint shop, craft stores or fine arts stores)
– A top coat or a clear nail polish,
– Cotton swabs and acetone (to remove any traces of nail polish on the cuticles and fingers).

Questa è la parte più divertente del post, è il momento del tutorial!
Il color block può essere facilmente esportato sulle nostre mani, ma bisogna avere pazienza e degli smalti molto accesi.
Potete usare due colori diversi e dividere l’unghia diagonalmente o verticalmente, come nella foto a fianco, oppure usare più smalti.
Per questa manicure avrete bisogno di:
– una base,
– 2 o 3 smalti dai colori vivici,– delle strisce adesive lunghe,
– un pennello sottile con setole sintetiche (potete trovarle per pochi euro in un negozio di vernici, fai da te o belle arti),
– un top coat o uno smalto trasparente,
– cotton fioc e acetone (per eliminare eventuali traccie di smalto sulle cuticole e sulle dita).
1) Apply a base, in this case I used a fortifying base (Avon-Nail Expert, pearl shine, a fortifying pearly treatment), and let it dry.
2) Apply the first nail enamel on the entire nails. I applied two coats of Rain Polish (Eyeko).
3) Put the adhesive strips on the back of your hand, and peel them off and repeat it until they have lost some of their glue. Apply them on the nails and create a compass shape.
4) Lay a second nail polish in the field bounded by the stickers, let it dry a bit and remove the stickers slowly. (I’ve used Punk Polish, Eyeko)
If you have a very firm hand, you can use the brush to create the edges of the triangles. I used the brush to draw the triangles on my pinkies.
5) Apply the third colour on the top of the nail and let it dry. (I’ve used Szy Says Feng Shui, O.P.I)
6) Finish with a layer of top coat or clear nail polish. This step is very important because not only the manicure will last more, but it will make things more uniform and some trimming (due to the strips) less visible.
I think a yellow polish would be nice with the fucsia and the blue but I haven’t yellow nail polish. What a shame… yellow is this summer colour!

1) Applicate una base, in questo caso ho usato una base fortificante (Avon -Nail Expert, trattamento fortificante perlato) e lasciate asciugare.
2) Applicate su tutta l’unghia il primo smalto, il più chiaro tra quelli che avete scelto. Ho applicato due strati di Rain Polish (Eyeko).
3) Adagiate le strisce adesive sul dorso della mano, attaccatele e staccatele finchè perderanno parte della loro colla. Applicatele sulle unghie formando un compasso.
4) Stendete un secondo smalto nel campo delimitato dagli sticker, lasciate asciugare un pochino e rimuovete gli adesivi lentamente. (Ho usato Punk Polish, Eyeko)
Se avete una mano molto ferma, potete usare il pennello per creare i bordi dei triangoli. Ho usato il pennellino per disegnare i triangoli sui mignoli.
5) Applicate il terzo colore nella parte superiore dell’unghia e lasciate asciugare. (Ho usato Suzi Says Feng Shui, O.P.I)
6) Finite con uno strato di top coat o smalto trasparente.
Questo passaggio è molto importante, non solo farà durare la manicure più a lungo, ma renderà il tutto più omogeneo e le inevitabili sbavature (dovute alle strisce) meno evidenti.
Penso che un bel giallo acceso stia molto bene con il fucsia e il blu, ma non ho nessun smalto giallo. Che vergogna… il giallo era il colore della stagione!
