There are loads of occasions to celebrate together and the most traditional way to delight guests is giving dragées. Les Cinq Amandes or “The 5 almonds” is what I’ve spotted recently and it has quickly captured my interest, why? Elegant packages and a huge selection of coloured sugared almonds and chocolate pralines, should I say more?
Les Cinq Amandes: dragées, sweet presents and a good cause
The name chosen by the shop mother-daughter duo sounds particular, why just five almonds?
Have you ever noticed how many almonds are inside a wedding dragées bag? Five, because five are the elements for a good marriage: happiness, health, wealth, longevity and fertility. That’s what “Les Cinq Amandes” wishes everyone.
Giving dragées, as little presents at ceremonies, has a long history that dates back to the Romans but ancient confetti were quite different from the ones we know/eat and we have had to wait till 15th century to see modern and sugared coated confectionery. Sugared almonds spread through all European powerful families thanks to Caterina de Medici and they had a big success and have arrived till today!
It’s a common tradition in Italy giving and receiving dragées at weddings, baptism, other catholic ceremonies and graduations but the market offer is quite standard; this is why the site “Les Cinq Amandes” inspired me to join this “spread the word” campaign.
I adore the idea of choosing colours and products, and creating custom boxes and fun baguettes!
The site is interactive and easy to use and, no matter where you live, you can receive your sweet presents.
If you like the idea of customizable and original boxes, this is a place that’s worth the visit! Plus you can get a 10% discount with the code HOLIDAY10 (it has no expiry date nor minimum purchase required) and support a good cause with your purchases.
It sounds strange or a nonsense, but there’s a special selection of confections in support of the Kirsten Haglund Foundation that provides scholarships to assist families and people who are fighting eating disorders.
Can be something sweet be sweeter?
