My custom nail polish for Julep: Blue Grotto (Grotta Azzurra)

I’ve never wondered how the nail polish of my dream would look like, I usually pick up and buy what I like the most without further imagination exercise (is that laziness?).
When I got asked to develop my own idea of nail polish for Julep, I forced my mind to start working on a brand new concept for me.
I had a bare idea: my nail polish had to recall pleasant memories and sensations, so what’s better than a dreamlike destination for these holidays?
This summer is going to be freaking hot and for all those people who can’t enjoy a real break, I imagined a refreshing shade: blue, that’s right!
Julep has a nice range of nail colours, with a good selection of blues as well, but I wanted to create something peculiar.
Blue Grotto is an instant vacation in Capri, that wonderful Southern island where the Roman emperors Augustus and Tiberius had theirs private villas (also an exile destination under Commodus).
Along with green, bright blue is the main colour there and from it the most famous grotto in the Mediterranean sea takes its name.

Capri inspiration

Quiet, relaxing, magical and crystal clean, the water of the Blue Grotto creates a peaceful and chilly atmosphere.
I’ve taken some inspirations from the picture above for my custom colour and the result for Blue Grotto is a medium blue, #0568f9, with tiny iridescent icy clear flakes that enable the nail polish to reflect light as the shiny waters in the grotto do.
It would be amazing to take a look at your nails and imagine you on a rocking boat with your friends and a cordial oarsman!

What do you think about my nail colour for Julep?
Back to the brand, Julep is having a Sweepstakes: if you’re from the U.S., don’t miss your chance to win a trip to New York with your BF and a shopping spree.
Good luck and enjoy your real or imaginary summer holidays!
