There’s a special entry for the Indie creations series. Today’s spotlights on independent jewellery go local! I couldn’t help that, when an old friend of mine told me she just opened her Christmas temporary shop, I had to pay her a visit. I took my camera with me so you can browse around Stile SoprafFimo’s store too.
Behind Stile SoprafFimo there’s Paola Maiese, a girl from a tiny city in Southern Italy. After uni, she found her passion for polymer clay jewellery creations, and she spreads her joy with Stile SoprafFimo.
How Paola’s Stile SoprafFimo polymer clay jewellery brand brand started
When Paola completed her studies in education, she found out how many things she could create with colourful blocks of polymer clay. It was first the joy of creating accessories, party favours and jewellery with polymer clays, then she came up with a brilliant idea for the holiday season: opening her own temporary shop like those that pop up in much bigger cities. With around 7.000 residents, her town doesn’t have much to offer.
She’s proud of her shop in shabby-chic style with candid white wooden furniture and walls brightened up with Christmas red decorations. Watercolour portraits painted by her friend Miriam Sorrentino give her store a unique twist.
It’s like a real workshop with a small workshop. I found her carefully working on a new range of tiny jewellery pieces when I visited her…
Stile SoprafFimo is a wordplay that doesn’t make much sense in English, so you could miss it and her shop, but this spot isn’t her only place to showcase her creations; Paola is also online on A little Market and Facebook.
For her own independent brand, Stile SoprafFimo, Paola uses polymer clays and resins, pearls and Swarovski elements; her style is multifaceted as the materials she chooses.
If kawaii earrings, trinkets, and keyrings shaped like puppies or fairies (but the list can go on and on) are her most popular items among teens and younger girls, she has something for a much wider public and delicate tastes.
Paola is able to imitate semiprecious stones by using polymer clays with embossed details and golden foils. She creates intertwined plant decorations for pendants and Pandora-style charms as well.
Her great care for details and love for miniatures can be clearly seen in her “mini worlds” necklaces or in her realistic tart rings, where the icing looks as if it’s about to drip from the cake.
Paola Maiese creates favours for graduations and births; she customises or creates directly from her clients’ wishes. She’s a fairy with a sweet smile who fulfills people’s desires with immense devotion. You can check out more from Stile SoprafFimo creations online at A Little Market and via her Facebook page.
Talking about polymer clays: can you describe yourself as a kawaii girl or a rarity hunter? I’m definitely an explorer in any possible sense!
