“Different folks, different strokes” and this happens with the “selfie-mania” too.
In Japan, where everything has a jolly twist, even taking a self-portrait with your smartphone becomes kawaii. Being cute and innocent is somewhat, somehow something normal and sensual.
Gothic lolitas, Decora, maid cafés… if you’re familiar with these terms, then you know what I mean.
Don’t surprise if in Japan people snap selfies like suffering from the worst toothache experience ever or showing off a funny duck face, so that the typical and overrated “Starbucks paper cup selfie” won’t be that foregone and boring anymore.
Maybe you’re going to laugh but this instructional video and the following quick reportage on the road will explain how looking cute for a selfie is easy to achieve and how popular are these weird poses. When in Rome… be kawaii!
