Fall or Spring? It’s Rika Gunawan’s Fall 2016 hair accessoriy collection for Republic of Pigtails

Rika Gunawan has a revelation: she has been working on something new for her hair accessory brand, Republic of Pigtails.
While we’re fully immersed in summer and party trends, the Indonesian designer is already preparing her exciting new collection of handmade hairpieces for Fall 2016.

This autumnal collection will have a peculiar accent, she said to “Valens… per voi” it will bring people back to spring even in the coolest autumn days.
All her designs are inspired by “Fall fashion but still have some Spring flair” as Rika describes them. The inspiration came unexpectedly one day, last October, while she was helping her daughter dressing, she continues “she didn’t like any of the Fall outfits that she had, because she said the colors were “boring” and not bright enough according to her taste” and here exactly happened what lightened up a lightbulb!
So, she ended up layering her Spring outfits and made them into Fall outfits.
I thought it would be so much fun to design my collections to have “super fun” colors according to her.

Her daughter along with her little pals and their moms, all represent a big, endless source of inspiration for Rika and she loves to involve her precious one into her creative and productive process.
Little things and small daily moments show clearly up through this collection: Ella, Fannie and Zinnia have those earthy and natural hues, typical to everything autumnal, but they’re tiny and delicate like all spring accessories are.
I wouldn’t miss summer with a cheer headband like Nina with its bright silver bow topped with a fluffy pom pom…

Waiting for autumn has never been that interesting before!
