Lush Cosmetics Rub Rub Rub shower scrub – review

Inside a Lush Rub Rub Rub pot, there’s the purest essence of summer! In the UK, this pot (330 gr) costs £12.00, a high but still honest price : it isn’t a simple body wash but also a very delicate and effective scrub. It’s perfect to prepare the skin for hair removal and sunbathing.

Lush Cosmetics Rub Rub Rub: product and packaging
Lush Cosmetics Rub Rub Rub
is a product with a smart concept: it’s a 2-in-1 bath product that cleanses as a normal shower gel and exfoliates your skin at the same time. Available in different sizes, this is contained in a big black pot for 330 gr of scrub.

Formula and texture
Rub Rub Rub is a bright Smurf blue. It’s a grainy cream made of sea salt, fresh lemon juice and essences. Despite its high exfoliating power, it doesn’t irritate or dry up your skin but it leaves every and each inch of our epidermis smooth and pleasantly perfumed.

Scent
This shower scrub needs one sniff to recreate summer: Rub Rub Rub has a fresh, energizing and pretty exotic scent. It has a dominant citrusy note, but I can definitely feel a light floral touch of jasmine. It also contains mimosa, orange and neroli, but they aren’t very perceptible.

How to use it:
It can be applied both on dry skin, for a deeper exfoliation, and on dump skin for a gentle scrub, exactly as I like it. Rub Rub Rub is very easy to use and will last a very long time!
For a pure matter of convenience, most of the time I grab a bit of Rub Rub Rub with a spoon to avoid direct contact with my fingers, but Rub Rub Rub can auto-preserve its formula for a long time: salt is a natural preservative that has been used by our ancestors for millennia.

My skin –  very dry and prone to flaking every season of the year – is silky smooth after a good Rub (Rub Rub). Sea salt is so effective in purifying the skin that Lush recommends to use it even on hair to clean your scalp and give extra volume to your mane. My hair is totally damaged so, I’m not so sorry, I skipped it.

EXTRA TIP
Why not keep your pot into the fridge for a cooler experience?

PROS:
  • it cleanses effectively;
  • gently exfoliates;
  • leaves the skin smooth and soft;
  • doesn’t irritate sensitive skin;
  • it has a pleasant and fresh scent;
  • it’s cruelty-free;
  • vegan;
  • widely available online.
CON:
  • price.

Indeed the only big flaw is Rub Rub Rub’s price: like most if not all Lush products, when this scrub leaves the UK, its price expands.
In the UK, this pot (330 gr) costs £12.00, a high but still honest price , while the bigger pot (665 gr9 is £20, but in the US the same smaller jar costs 22,95$! Way too much!

Would I recommend it? It’s a great product worth a try, but it’s something for those who like lemons, are looking for 2-in-1 products and a very gentle scrub.

Any moisturising body balm or cream (read about Charity Pot)  will work well after a shower with Rub Rub Rub because it will be better and quicker absorbed by the skin.
If you have a Rub Rub Rub, you’ll find a personal sea breeze in a pot!
