Nutree Brazilian Bottox Expert is a thermal multi-action hair mask that comes in a bright magenta jar, and it’s available in two sizes: 250 grams and 1 kilo. Today’s beauty is 250 grams-version and contains approximately 5 applications. The number of applications depends – obviously – on how long and voluminous your mane is.
This Brazilian blowout hair mask is formulated to work on damaged and frizzy hair, and it’s suitable for coloured and treated hair as well. It’s a multi-action treatment that mends damages and restores hair structure; smoothes and aligns the strands; reduces natural or humidity-caused frizz.
Formula
Some key ingredients to revive, hydrate and smooth the hair are marine collagen, glutamic acid, and almond oil. I’ve lost my microscope, so I briefly explain what each of them does. Natural collagen strengthens and repairs hair fibres thanks to its amino acids; almond oil softens, adds moisture and shine, reduces frizz at the same time; its content in vitamin E improves the appearance of damaged hair; the glutamic acid is another amino acid that fights electrostatic effect and coats the hair for a glossy and smooth finish. Nutree Brazilian Bottox Expert contains as well a super moisture source like shea butter.
Texture & scent
This Nutree Professional thermal hair mask has jelly to cream thick texture, and it’s pearly white in colour. It has a distinctive strawberry scent with a chemical undernote which can be detected during the usage.
Nutree’s formula is potent and requires gloves for a proper application, while its smell can be overwhelming. Staying in a ventilated room is not an option.
To give you an idea: do you remember your childhood strawberry “cigarette” gums? The ones you were pretending to smoke and being cool with? Right those ones!
How to use:
A Nutree Brazilian Bottox Expert hair mask comes with a detailed step-by-step instruction card; the same information can be found online as well. The application can be quite long, so peace in mind and have some good reading (or whatever you like to do)!
1) Wash your hair with your shampoo. Nutree recommends any anti-residue shampoo with pH9 level or higher. I used a basic shampoo, without conditioner.
2) Dry your hair completely
3) Section your hair in 6 parts, wear some gloves and evenly apply the hair mask
4) Leave your mask for 30 or up to 40 minutes
5) Rinse your hair thoughtfully
6) Dry your hair with your hairdryer and a round brush
7) Section your hair again and start to strengthen them with a flat iron, each lock for 10 to 15 times

This Nutree Professional hair mask has been tested to provide a long-lasting effect: hydrated, healthy and frizz-free hair up to 4 weeks and a sleek effect from 4 to 8 weeks.
A full straight look lasts almost 3 weeks and becomes more natural (read “back to wavy”) as I wash my hair later on.
A Brazilian blowout is not a permanent straightening but a treatment that relaxes and treats the hair structure, so the resulting; hairstyle has more to do with the natural shape of your hair. My hair naturally comes back to waves naturally, hence this short outcome. Smoothness and hydration last longer than that, around 1 month, and the glossy finish is extremely pleasant worth of a GLOSSY magazine ad! All in all, the application is quite easy but the overall time to complete all the steps is quite… considerable.

Can you imagine my surprise when I saw my hair sleek but especially smooth like silk and glossy like (photoshopped) models’ hair? This mask is a professional, chemical treatment and needs – it’s mandatory – a pair of gloves to protect your hands and fresh air too! The strawberry scent hides a strong smell if you suffer from respiratory issues.
I’m in balance on a rope: love it or hate it?
To be honest, I wished for a very long-lasting straightening look, and it didn’t happen. However, the appearance of my hair appearance has improved, drastically! Shampooing does make the sleek look lesser and lesser intense with the time; but the smoothness, the shine, the anti-frizz and anti-humidity actions are some surprising effects that last longer than expected!
