I’M FROM Mugwort Mask – review

With a ‘I’m from’ skin care product, you know what you put onto your face and where it comes from. I’M FROM Mugwort Mask comes from South Korea, more precisely, from the Island of Ganghwa where a ‘miraculous’ herb is harvested.

If a smell can remind you of a place, I’m from Mugwort Mask definitely can!

I’M FROM Mugwort Mask: product and packaging

I’m from Mugwort Mask is a cooling and soothing treatment for every skin type. It comes in two sizes: a jar (110 gr) and a tube (30 gr) to test the product out. The full size has a protective lid and includes an ergonomic spatula for a hygienically and mess-free application. (Jump to the next chapter, and you’ll see why this tool isn’t a mare plus.)
‘I’m from’ puts much effort adding a natural touch to every single product and packaging. Its colour palette, the cardboard texture and weight deliver an exclusive feeling and suggest the natural origin of its main ingredient.

Formula
This face treatment has been highly praised for its generous content in mugwort, a good 2.1%. Mugwort sounds strange, but it’s another name for the common artemisia. This plant has been used as a cooling remedy in baths and teas in Korea for centuries. But mugwort has been the talk of the (K-beauty) town all this year 2020.

Mugwort is rich in antioxidants and vitamin E, and has antifungal, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. I’m from Mugwort Mask makes use of its calming, healing and cooling powers, and combines it with Cordyceps Sinensis mushroom (anti-inflammatory) and Scutellaria Baicalensis root (anti-inflammatory and antioxidant), and the more familiar Centella Asiatica, rosemary, camomille, and green tea extracts.

Scent and texture
I’m from Mugwort Mask will sit forever in your memories; you may hate it or love it to the moon and back. Indeed, its peculiar scent and texture make it impossible to forget. This mask has a fresh and earthy smell with a defined note of freshly-cut greens. It isn’t a typical herbal fragrance but feels natural from the first sniff. I can detect soil and herbs notes, yet it recalls cleanness and freshness. Would you connect these words with soil?

The texture is a thick and cool gel with bits and twigs of mugwort. It isn’t the weirdest texture in the skin care world but shows you what’s inside the mask. The khaki green-amber, glycerin jelly base is very firm and aims to preserve the efficiency of mugwort.

How to use:
This gentle mask can be used several times a week, those with sensitive skin can also use it 2 to 3 times per week without causing any problems. It can stay on your skin for 5 to 10 minutes, then rinsed off with warm water. An SPF filter is highly recommended after the application, while the combination with acid or mechanical exfoliants must be avoided.

PROS:

  • it’s refreshing,
  • gentle (for all skin types),
  • it calms redness,
  • leaves the skin smooth and supple,
  • contains a generous amount of mugwort and natural extracts,
  • includes a spatula for application,
  • has a fast action,
  • it’s cruelty-free,
  • free from common chemicals (artificial fragrances, colourants, silicons).

CON:

  • it takes long to be removed.
  • (some people may dislike scent or texture).

I’m from Mugwort Mask has been well-received online, and the latest skin care trend has contributed to its popularity. You cand find this I’m from mask in many Korean beauty e-stores, but it’s currently on sale on Wishtrend for $28.

My senses told me what I was going to try, and I trusted them. An instant cooling sensation is what I feel while spreading this jelly mask all over my face. I find this mask strikingly relaxing and so nice during hot days.

I'm From Mugwort Mask - texture and opinions

The texture is gentle as I couldn’t feel those tiny twigs rubbing onto my face. This I’m from mask has a soft touch and isn’t heavy. The comfort is total; I could easily fall asleep and forget this mask on.
Its fragrance and composition don’t bother me at all, but I find its removal slightly tricky. The jelly texture applies easily but sinks on the skin so well, too well… warm water isn’t enough, at least not for me! I’m using and I recommend a soaked microfiber cloth to wash off the mask. Trust me, it helps!

Top Korean 2020 skin care ingredient and I'm From Mugwort Mask

Once completely off, I follow with a toner (I’m currently using Rovectin Cica Care toner), face cream (I’m using Nahaia Active Organics 24K Pep Me Up) and SPF protection (Polaar Sun Lotion 50+). Apart from a clean sensation, my skin feels smoother; irritated areas and smaller pimples look less red, less swollen: in short, tamed.

I’m from Mugwort Mask may look ugly, may feel weird, but you know that saying about not judging a book by its cover? Well, popular sayings hide some truth…
