Jolie Beauty Second Skin Powder Blushers and Bronzers: product and packaging

Jolie Beauty Second Skin Powder is a range of compact blushers and bronzer for fair, medium and dark skin tones. Each face powder, 13 grams in total, comes in a shiny rose gold round case with a mirror included.

Formula and texture
Blushes and bronzers have the same formula: vegan and cruelty-free micronised powders. The texture is very fine, overall silky, made to blend effortlessly. These face powders create an incredibly natural effect thanks to their matte but bright finish, which makes these compacts fuse with your skin.

Shades
Jolie Beauty Second Skin Powder Bronzer in the shade 01 Latte fits into the medium spectrum and is a warm shade of light caramel. It has a 100% matte but vivid finish, that looks like many sunny days spent in the outdoors. Its formula is extra fine and feels silky to the touch, resulting in a good bronzer and a natural contour shade.

Note: I noticed that – and I bet you do as well – the colours on the pans look strikingly different. While shooting, the amount of light due to the inclination of the sun rays and sky coverage impacted on the outcome of the photo sessions. Blush without embarrassment but with Jolie Beauty Second Skin Powder Blusher in… Flushed. This blush has the same 100% matte and luminous finish that makes Latte looking so natural. The pigmentation is equally hight, but the silky texture makes it impalpable and easy to build up to the desired intensity. No matter the number of applications, this blush feels and looks light and airy on the cheeks. On the pan, Jolie Beauty Flushed looks darker as a dusty peach coral but once blended, it reveals its true shade as a bright peach. Which hopefully isn’t orangey at all.

Another shade of blush for medium skin tone by Jolie Beauty is Rendezvous. This blush has the same 100% matte but luminous finish which is the signature of this collection. The texture is fine but, of the three compact powders, is the one which loses intensity as you blend in. Hence, Rendezvous seems good for a pinch-on-your-cheeks effect but needs an extra application to gain more colour. This is also the one that feels slightly powdery if not evenly blended. On the pan it looks darker than in real life: it’s a dusty medium pink with a peach undertone, a shade that is lighter than New York pink. It turns into a petal pink on my skin, a rose that’s lighter than flamingo (FCA3B7).

PROS:

• a buildable intensity;
• a natural-looking finish;
• the formula feels light;
• has a high blendability;
• is cruelty-free and vegan;
• has a sturdy and handy package (with mirror);
• long-lasting effect (averagely more than 6 hours, up to 10);
• no scent.

CON:

• some difference in texture may occur with fallout/ powder bits (i.e. Rendezvous)

FLUSHED vs RENDEZVOUS

Excluding Rendezvous, which was a shy mate, the rest of the collection showed the best when dating with my skin.

Impalpable is the best description for this ‘très jolie‘ collection, particularly for what I experienced with the bronzer Latte and Flushed. These powders seem to wrap your skin like a glove and distribute so well to disappear or mimic your skin tone. The complete lack of any shimmer, shine or pearlescence is a pro feature in this collection. This factor plays an essential role in making both bronzers and blushes highly wearable and comfortable. The combination of fine texture and luminous finish create an ‘invisible’ touch: you can see but you don’t feel it.

Of the two combinations: Latte+Flushed was actually my second skin; I could wear every day in my PJ.
