dear, Klairs Fundamental Nourishing Eye Butter – review

Whether you’re on a diet or not, you won’t gain any more calories with this butter! In fact, this spreadable butter isn’t for your breakfast toasts but for your eyes. It’s dear, Klairs Fundamental Nourishing Eye Butter.

Squeezable, hydrating, travel-friendly: this is the kind of eye cream, and generally skincare, I prefer to have with me. But there’s something about dear, Klairs ‘eye butter’ that I need to investigate further in today’s post…

dear, Klairs Fundamental Nourishing Eye Butter: product and package

dear, Klairs – or simply ‘Klairs‘ – has two options for eye care that can be used in combination or alone. Of these, the Fundamental Nourishing Eye Butter is a very rich eye cream with plenty of natural extracts (see next paragraph) developed for all skin types and ‘with an eye’ on dehydrated skin. This cream comes in a slim, pearl grey tube with 20 grams of product in total.

Formula
dear, Klairs ‘eye butter’ aims to give extra hydration to thirsty skin while improving the appearance of fine lines. Its formula is free from artificial colourants, synthetic perfumes and ethanol. The formulation makes it suitable for sensitive skin types, including skin suffering from milium. The main ingredient is sunflower oil, a source of vitamin A (retinol) and E, caffeine, and four types of peptides (‘Quad Peptide Blend’). Of the many natural extracts, higher up in the ingredient list, you may recognise mugwort, 2020’s top Korean skincare staple*, green tea, cinnamon, and turmeric. Sounding fancier: golden chamomille and Corallina Officinalis, a minerals-packed red alga from the UK and Irish coasts.
Introducing the formula explains the particular texture of this eye cream…

Texture & scent
It’s described as a rich cream and, indeed, dear, Klairs Fundamental Nourishing Eye Butter is quite substantial. The name doesn’t convey the right texture of this eye treatment, apart from its oiliness and moist. Butter is hard but melts, while dear, Klairs ‘eye butter’ is a thick cream nor a regular eye cream. Its consistency is that of a cream-coloured, oily lotion that leaves an instant suppleness and a light unctuousness. Hence, it spreads easily but needs some time to get fully absorbed. Once set, it leaves no traces nor oily spots. The product description recommends it for ‘people who mind overly rich eye creams’. So, this texture is felt exactly as I did by everyone.
The texture feels somehow comforting for the way it applies and the soothing after-feel. The same comfort is given by the lack of any peculiar scent.

  • needs a small amount per application;

Mugwort eye cream dear, Klairs eye butter

dear, Klairs Fundamental Nourishing Eye Butter is a day-to-night treatment, and its hydration lasts very long after I wake up.
Wishtrend website informs that this ‘eye butter, thanks to its nourishing formula, can be used as a local treatment where fine lines appear around the nose and lips.

dear, Klairs eye butterregularly costs $23.50*, hence I would place it in the middle price range. You could likely accept this price by considering it as multi-area, multi-tasking skincare treatment.

The main feature causing more doubts is exactly the oily-no-greasy texture. During my experience, the time Klairs ‘eye butter’ needs to fully sink into the skin isn’t a problem before going to sleep, but it could be uncomfortable prior to apply some makeup.
The moisturising effect is instant and the comfort is total but my fine lines didn’t improve remarkably. On the contrary, they looked more evident some days! Surprisingly, I could notice a reduction in my under-eye dark circles and puffiness. You can see them in the first before&after comparison above.
Still, my doubts remained.

Nourishing eye treatment for all skin types by dear, Klairs - review

Whether or not dear, Klairs Fundamental Nourishing Eye Butter is for you has nothing to do with your diet! It depends on what you’re currently looking for your next eye treatment. If you’re young, in your very early twenties, this ‘eye butter’ will provide you with enough plumpness and smoothness. You could also enjoy a brighter and de-puffed look on some days. However, if you’re more than 25, you may wish for a more intensive eye cream to firm and tight the eye area as well. In short, it’s an intensely hydrating treatment that makes my dry and itchy skin feel relaxed and healthy mainly for young skin.
