Combination skin has a double nature, definitely a bizarre one! Sometimes dry and oily areas ‘dance’ on your face without any ‘sense of the rhythm’! What was supposed to be an oily area, tomorrow could show a nasty peeling. A typical combo skin needs a cream like it, a 2-in-1 face cream like AXIS-Y Cera-Heart My Type Duo Cream.
2-in-1 face creams aren’t a new thing on the market. They’re the most reasonable way to treat two different areas without spending too much money or time searching for an effective skincare combination.
What’s different in AXIS-Y 611 Cera-Heart My Type Duo Cream, then?
AXIS-Y Cera-Heart My Type Duo Cream: product and packaging
Cera-Heart My Type Duo Cream from the AXIS-Y 611 collection, is a day to night face cream specifically formulated for combination skin and its necessities. It comes in a translucent green jar with a spatula, and it’s divided into two slots with 60ml of product in total for two creams.
Formula
AXIS-Y Cera-Heart My Type Duo Cream has two formulas with specific ingredients to address the issue of the ‘U’ area, the dry one, and the ‘T’ area, the oiliest (forehead, nose and chin most of the time) or even both. This combo cream is cruelty-free, vegan and free from parabens, irritants like artificial fragrances and colouring.
Cera-Heart My Type Duo Cream contains purslane extract, jojoba oil, ceramide and a technology called ‘Pure Medi’, a collagen stimulator, for the ‘U’ area. Sage, rice and heartleaf extracts fight bacterial inflammation and control oil production in the untamable ‘T’ area. The two creams share allantoin, Centella Asiatica and sorghum extracts to soften and protect the skin while providing antioxidant properties and fastening the healing process after breakouts.
Texture & scent
We’ve just seen how ‘two creams’ means two formulas. ‘Two creams’ also equals different textures, scents and feeling on the skin. The cream for the T-area is a product with a hybrid gel texture, and light azure in colour. The side for the U–area is a white, thicker cream which recalls ceramide-based face treatments for its soothing and easy spreadability like a balm.
The two creams share the same note, between neutral and ozonic; there’s an almost imperceptible difference in their fragrances but it’s hard to grasp after the application. Both creams feel instantly refreshing and pleasant. Of the two, the U–area cream sinks quickly onto the skin giving a comfortable sensation and instant hydration. On the other hand, the T–area cream needs a couple of seconds to get fully absorbed but doesn’t feel sticky or shiny afterwards. It simply disappears.
Not just the scents, but also the textures seem to work in symbiosis! They can be mixed or overlayed on those spots that share typical features of both dry and impure skin depending on the season, stress or hormonal cycle. In my case, these areas are between my eyebrows, around my nose and my lips.
PROS:
- it’s customisable (2 formulas can be overlayed without clogging your pores);
- cruelty-free and vegan;
- free from parabens, harsh chemicals, artificial colours and fragrances;
- it controls sebum production in T-area;
- hydrates drier areas;
- reduces redness;
- feels light and refreshing;
- makes dry areas firmer and supple.
CON:
- it has no SPF.
Cera-Heart suggests there are two products in one pot with ceramide and heartleaf as their prominent signature. Two creams in one are just $27 online at AXIS-Y and, in my opinion, price and quantity represent a great bargain. Here are some in-depths of my experience with Cera-Heart My Type Duo Cream…
I opened by saying ‘2-in-1 face creams aren’t a new thing on the market’. During my decade in sales, I remember a 2-in-1 face cream for combination skin in my toolbox, but it wasn’t exactly like Cera-Heart. Back then, ten years ago, my combination skin was certainly younger, but it wasn’t happy with gel formulations at all. I still find them sticky, uncomfortable to use and less effective because my skin does not absorb them properly. I could slap my face vigorously in the attempt to make my gel creams sink, but gels don’t usually cope well.
My daily experience with Cera-Heart comes at a time when my skin needs more: control over hormonal acne, extra hydration for the wintertime, and more elasticity to make my contour firmer. Did this cream check all these boxes? The dual formulation actually works and allows me to dose and apply the right product or combination of creams where I need it the most. There are days when my nose is drier than usual and I can overlay the T and U-area creams without risking breakouts and clogged pores. The T-area cream is gradually controlling sebum production on my forehead without drying the area. As a result, I see fewer enlarged pores and blackheads.
The U-area cream seems to create effective protection against dehydration (and post-snow ball fight fun). My cheeks are very supple and fuller, with an even texture and tone. Redness and dry patches are extremely rare. Unfortunately, some restricted areas on my cheeks and jawline still experience recurring whiteheads and build-ups in localised spots due to my hormonal acne. This skin issue is better controlled and marks left after breakouts lighten with ease. I need more “cica-action” on my U-area cream, so I apply some more preparations with Centella Asiatica underneath when I need.
Let’s celebrate! I fit two reviews in one and sorted many issues with just one cream thanks to Cera-Heart My Type Duo Cream. This AXIS-Y duo cream is also day-to-night, could be better than this?
More cica and I’ll be ok.
