If the word ‘acid’ scares you to death, you must know that not all acids are the same in skincare. For this reason, all skin types are welcome to try By Wishtrend Acid-Duo Hibiscus 63 Cream.

By Wishtrend Acid-Duo Hibiscus 63 Cream: product and packaging

By Wishtrend Acid-Duo Hibiscus 63 Cream is the natural partner of By Wishtrend Acid-Duo 2% Mild Gel Cleanser you might remember from a previous blog. This face cream is for every skin type and works as a double-action treatment, hydrating and mild exfoliating face cream in one. It targets uneven skin tone and dullness and helps to clear clogged pores and minimise irregular pigmentation. It works by chemically exfoliating the skin with LHA (Lipo Hydroxy Acid/Capryloyl Salicylic Acid) and PHA (Gluconolactone). These two acids have more gentle than AHAs, resulting in resurfaced and smoother skin. This cream is mild enough to be used daily and day to night.

Formula
Mild acids play an essential role in byWishtrend Acid-Duo Hibiscus 63 Cream, but its real key ingredient is hibiscus flower extract, a powerful plant used in anti-ageing skincare. It’s rich in malic and citric acid – two acids from the AHA family – but the action of hibiscus extract is milder than AHAs alone. It also contains Vitamin C, antioxidants and mucilage. If mucilage makes you think of slimy snails, you are correct! This same ingredient that promotes the production of elastin is found in this flower. Hibiscus is also called the ‘botox plant‘ but it’s less aggressive than botox. Hibiscus extract slows down the activity of elastase, the culprit for elastin breakage. All these hidden qualities make hibiscus the ultimate ally for youthful and firmer skin.

Texture and scent
byWishtrend Acid-Duo Hibiscus 63
Cream is a jelly cream, with the texture of a gel without its sticky sensation… most of the time! It’s translucent pink in colour and has a refreshing yet artificial scent, an unpleasant feature of this cream. It gives a timid cool feel to the skin but, with the wrong dosage, it’s definitely heavier than expected and ends up creating an unforgiven stickiness that nobody likes. A few dots of cream will go a long way and it’s for your good.

PROS:

  • it has a non-irritating formula;
  • mild exfoliant acids (LHA and PHA);
  • hibiscus flower is the main ingredient;
  • it smoothes the skin;
  • shrinks pores;
  • maintains optimal hydration level;
  • keep the skin elastic;
  • it’s cruelty-free;
  • vegan;
  • free from alcohol, artificial colourants, fragrance and gluten;
  • suitable for sensitive skin;
  • suitable for both hot and cold seasons.

CONS:

  • it may feel heavy and sticky;
  • its scent seems artificial (subjective);
  • it doesn’t even sunspots (sun exposure);
  • has no SPF;
  • doesn’t plump/firm the skin tighter (comparison).

The mild yet targeted action to uneven complexion is the best quality of By Wishtrend Acid-Duo Hibiscus 63 Cream. How my combo skin ‘behaved’ with this cream proved its gentle touch but it still feels unpleasant. This cream could have been more cooling and more appealing for sure.

I’m still using this cream day to night and my skin feels smooth to the touch and has extremely minimised pores. Hormonal breakouts are drastically reduced and there’s still no sign of redness. The results may be a bit of a miss if you expect an intensive perfecting or anti-ageing cream. For what concerns skin complexion, on one hand, although my skin texture has improved and with it its dewiness, sunspots are still noticeable. In regards to hydration and firmness, my skin has been supple during seasonal changes but firmness is not as intense as other creams with hibiscus extract do.

All in all, skin compatibility, hydration and gentle exfoliation are pro qualities of this Wishtrend in-house face cream. These three actions are enough for people in their 20s who want to preserve their youthfulness but it isn’t enough for the older ones. A cream that can be used day and night means that it doesn’t provide any SPF, so it’s essential to remember a good filter (I’m using ).

byWishtrend Acid-Duo Hibiscus 63 Cream - flower extracts

By Wishtrend Acid-Duo Hibiscus 63 Cream is cruelty-free and vegan as the other skincare products from the brand and is available at the regular price of $22 or $39.60 (instead of $44.00 10%) with the Acid-Duo set.

Skin is fresh as a flower and this cream is delicate like a petal but I’m at that age where I need more than one flower to feel good. In a nutshell, it’s for young girls…
