If you think of youth, the following ideas could pop into your mind: freshness, the fountain of the eternal youth, maybe… blue? dear, Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop has a blue factor that’s worth diving in.
When it comes to anti-ageing, the general feel is one hasn’t enough treatments. dear, Klairs proposes some extra drops: its Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop.
dear, Klairs – Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop: product and packaging
Not an essence, nor a toner. dear, Klairs – Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop is indeed an extra step. After the last K-beauty review, you might say ‘another one?’. Yes.
dear, Klairs – Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop is a restorative treatment developed as a support to your existing anti-ageing regime. It comes in a little 20ml bottle with a dropper in a matching box made of recycled paper printed with soy ink. It feels as tiny as it looks.
Formula
The formula is cruelty-free and vegan, concise and straight to the point. With peptides, anti-oxidant blueberry extract and a curious blue ingredient called guaiazulene, which gives these drops their bright blue colour.
About guaiazulene
This rather funny name doesn’t sound familiar, although it has been in the cosmetic industry for a while as a natural colourant in many products from haircare to perfumes. It’s found in some essential oils (guaiac) and flowers like chamomile and blue tansy. When its antimicrobial and antioxidant properties have been proved, guaiazulene stepped into skincare with full honours.
Scent and texture
Drops can’t be but liquid. dear, Klairs – Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop is a runny liquid treatment with little or no after-feel and a peculiar scent reminiscent of… watercolours.
How to use
Here comes the true question: what’s the correct application for an extra skincare step and when to use it? The name may fool you, as the Wishtrend website does, and let you think of a night treatment. Instead, the manufacturer states this is an am-pm product. 3 to 4 drops are ok for each application. These youth drops have to be applied on clean skin, before toner and put until fully absorbed.
PROS:
- it’s suitable for all skin types;
- cruelty-free and vegan;
- packed with anti-oxidants;
- its formula is free from silicons, artificial colourants and perfumes;
- it doesn’t redden or irritate the skin;
- dries fast without stickiness (with properly applied).
CONS:
- it may stain clothing and fabrics (guaiazulene is a natural colourant!);
- the package is rather small.
Tiny but mighty? These concentrated treatment aims to increase skin radiance and improve the complexion by promoting cellular renewal. These drops by Korean brand dear, Klairs are told to restore your youth by also stimulating collagen production. This genie in a bottle should increase elasticity and unveil an even and younger skin day after day thanks to its renewal support.
If you’re here, you know that I put every product to extreme tests. To challenge dear, Klairs – Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop and discover its potential, I intentionally changed my skincare and removed most of my strong anti-ageing treatment except for my cleanser (Adaptology) and eye cream (Estée Lauder). I literally cut most of the ‘treads of my youth parachute’.
I tested these drops for more than one month in this way and I was sceptical about both the right usage and qualities. This product was surely fast to use but how much and when was a big problem for me. When I fit these drops between the preparation water and the toner, I found it was the right way. By removing dead skin cells and last impurities, byWishtrend 5% Mandelic Acid Skin Prep Water created the right condition for these drops to work their way.
dear, Klairs – Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop is $30 for 20ml.

Applying these drops is like a refreshing toner but it’s easy to add too much or too little. I found that I needed more time to get familiar with this specific product as I expected, exactly as it happened with the preparation water above mentioned.
Time and constancy are key factors in anti-ageing and I would say any good skincare regime. It’s true with dear, Klairs – Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop. I gave this product ten days, then I kept using it because my skin was looking surprisingly good in the morning. It wasn’t only smoother and even thanks to the preparation water and its peeling effect, but also radiant, elastic, supple. It’s this elasticity, not supported by my usual anti-age routine, an expected effect, hence much appreciated.
There’s no doubt, this tiny treatment passed my hard test. Effectiveness backed by a winning formula explains the price which is rather disproportionate for the quantity. Here you pay for the quality. Are you willing to pay for it?
I would, so someone give me an extra good job, please!
