Beauty supplements come in tablets, gummies, drops, powder drinks. However, you can’t say you’ve tried them all until you give Primine CH.V Smartfilm a go.
From South Korea, your beauty regime finds a new helper. Primine developed an innovative way to get your collagen recharged for healthy skin, hair and nails: CH.V Smartfilm.
About the brand
The maker of CH.V Smartfilm has its base in South Korea, house of the most popular skincare products and brands of the moment. Primine was founded in 2012 by Younghwan Lee as a start-up for sustainable and hi-tech wellbeing solutions. The company gained many recognitions in South Korea and today holds patents for nano-fermentation, microbiome and nitric oxide technologies and, last but not least, for orally-disintegrating films. The latter one is key to understanding how CH.V Smartfilm works and why it might beat other beauty supplements on the market.
Beauty innovation: CH.V Smartfilm
The innovative feature of this beauty supplement is its technology, not just the composition. For its CH.V Smartfilm, Primine uses soluble microfilm and the ability of the oral mucosa – the inside of the mouth – to absorb nutrients. To support this concept, the study of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the Himeji Dokkyo University shows that oral absorption of collagen and hyaluronic acid is 92x higher compared to skin application. Absorption via mucosa is higher and faster than ingestion as well. This is where the microfilm technology and texture work their scientific magic. A little sheet of skin nutrients, placed on the inside of your cheeks, will deliver active ingredients more efficiently. All in all, this system isn’t rocket science to explain but it’s quite advanced. What CH.V Smartfilm gives you?
About the product: a complete supplement system
Primine CH.V Smartfilm includes 4 nutrients that are popular in skin and antiageing supplements on the market and many growth boosters for hair and nail: collagen, hyaluronic acid, elastin and vitamin C.
Science facts: collagen, elastin, hyaluronic acid and vitamin C for skin, hair and nail
Collagen is a protein, a building block of our tissues. It’s naturally produced by our bodies – by the connective cells called fibroblasts. Its production slows down with ageing and/or other factors, such as smoking, drinking, high sugar intake and UV exposition. Collagen is our derma (middle section of the skin), tendons, ligaments, bones… As our net of fibroblasts – hence collagen – loosen, we start noticing sagging skin and fragile articulations.
Hyaluronic acid is a molecule produced by our bodies, a humectant whose job is to retain water to keep skin moisturised and protected. Its superpower is its ability to bind to and attract water molecules for one thousand its weight in water. This explains why it plays a role in having plump and youth-looking skin. As its production decreases, skin loses volume, hydration and firmness.
Vitamin C is an antioxidant popularly connected with bright and glowy skin. Vitamin C, indeed, exfoliates the skin surface and brightens dark spots but also protects skin from UV rays. It also helps with collagen synthesis. HA and Vit C could be paired since they can collaborate to protect, hydrate and repair skin tissues. You could if your skin isn’t sensitive to any of these ingredients.
Like collagen, elastin is an essential protein in our connective tissues. It gives skin the capability to stretch and go back to its original shapes. So it’s part of our skin, ligaments, cartilage, big blood vessels and our bladder too (and now, you understand why it can contain so much p…).
As you can see, these 4 components keep our skin elastic and firm (collagen, elastin and HA), hydrated (HA and Vit C), bright and protected (Vit C). This is mainly about skin, but what have these components to do with our hair and nails? Our body is smart and can break a protein into smaller blocks (amino acids) to build what it needs. For example, it can break collagen to get the pieces to assemble keratin, the protein making hair and nails. Collagen is also in our hair follicles and protects them from free radicals; HA is also in our hair follicles and can boost the hydration of each hair strand.
Primine CH.V Smartfilm reintroduces these four ingredients back to our system in a faster way. Each film contains 48mg of collagen peptides sourced from fish (tilapia), a premium source compared to bovine or pig proteins. The idea isn’t appealing but Primine makes it more pleasant: the microfilm has a mint and lemon aroma. No sugar but edulcorants. This innovative supplement is also presented in a refined way: an elegant black box with magnetic closure with 30 individual sachets for one month supply (€69.99).
Valens vs Primine CH.V Smartfilm: first impressions
The first results should be visible within 2 weeks but I wait a whole month to share my experience with a new blog. For now, I can’t anticipate that much. However, this total skincare system seems hassle-free: one film at night, before going to bed. It dissolves while I fall asleep. The taste is really natural, fresh and zesty at once. It doesn’t feel artificial, utterly sweet or with a strange retro taste.
I just need to remember to take one before hitting the hay. So I keep it by my side table, the smartfilm system does the job for me. Can it be a kind of “beauty sleep”? Come back in one month to find out…
