About Roccabox
It’s one of the most popular beauty boxes in the UK. Roccabox was launched in Spring 2016 and sits in the luxury beauty field. Behind this pink box, there’s Tia Roqaa, entrepreneur and former PR agent, who poured her decennial experience in brand relationships into her project.
What to expect or what’s inside a Roccabox
With so much insider experience in the cosmetic sector, you can expect Tia to put the most buzzed and high-quality beauty brands. I had the pleasure to interview Tia and I can tell you she speaks with her expertise and joy. Inside every monthly curated box, there are at least 5 luxury products from different categories and occasionally some good treats. Of these beauty items, many are full size too. You can have a look at the array of partners brands by exploring previous beauty boxes and seeing how many are on your wish list.
Unboxing Roccabox February 2022
Roccabox February 2022 beauty box wasn’t about love and hearts but a lovely beauty sleep. The topic of this monthly box is a good night’s sleep based on the fact more and more people experienced difficulties falling asleep during the pandemic.
This month’s pink box was valued at £71.50 but, like all individual boxes, it’s available at £15 plus shipping costs. Unbox it with me to see what it feels like…
The box contains well 4 full-size products and one travel size of the Murad AHA/BHA exfoliating cleanser which seems quite generous. The choice of product is perfectly fitting to nighttime. Items to prep your skin and make a relaxing atmosphere.
Murad AHA/BHA exfoliating cleanser: a quick review
Murad AHA/BHA exfoliating cleanser is a good value in this box, this is a chemical exfoliating facial cleanser with jojoba beads. Considering this formulation, it’s a weekly treatment to be used a week at night. It feels refreshing and smoothing, sensible enough on my combo skin. This is approved for sure.
Beauty Pro 1% Retinol Overnight Serum: a quick review
Beauty Pro 1% Retinol Overnight Serum is a full-size product retailed £12. It’s an antiageing face serum with seaweed-based retinol. It has an aquatic and fresh scent but a sticky consistency, making the application not completely pleasant or fast.
Once dry, it leaves the skin smooth and still nicely hydrated the morning after. I’ve tried other Beauty Pro treatments, mainly face sheet masks, and I wasn’t impressed. I kept my mind open to change my ideas. Based on my experience, this sits in the so-so category solely because of its consistency.
Feather & Down Sweet Dreams Pillow Spray: a quick review
Feather & Down Sweet Dreams Pillow Spray is a full-size product retailed £3.50. This pillow spray combines essential oils of lavender and chamomile in a perfect balance. This is great for those who aren’t a fan of lavender scented products or its essential oil. I would recommend spraying it from a distance, so to create a cloud of heavenly scent, and way in advance. This is because each spritz is quite powerful and one is enough. This is approved by a person strongly hostile to lavender!
Paul Yacomine Body Oil: a quick review
Paul Yacomine Body Oil is another full-size product, although it looks rather small in its 50ml aluminium bottle retailed £32 (!). This is a luxury body oil with nourishing and elasticising rosehip oil and macadamia oil and plenty of flowery notes. It’s said to have tropical flower notes of ylang-ylang but its fragrance feels quite Occidental to my nose. Opening it can be a deed if you unfortunately break the opening ring or rush around. A tiny amount makes my skin glow but the scent isn’t my cup of tea. It’s a nice treatment and massage oil in one, two features that potentially save it.
A nighttime-theme box can’t be concluded without relaxing bath salts!
Skin and Tonic Slow Down Bath Soak: a quick review
Skin and Tonic Slow Down Bath Soak is inspired by the Japanese ritual of forest bathing. It’s the fourth full-size product in February Roccabox and is valued at £9. These eucalyptus Epsom salts have a touch of cedarwood and rosemary creating a welcoming warm and round fragrance. To these, CBD from upcycled help to give an extra oomph to your bath. As a shower person, I like this relaxing bath and the scent that develops from my bathtub vapours. The glass jar seems really small if compared to what you can find on the shelves, but a handful of salts is enough. This is approved.
The value and the quality of each brand and discovery go hand in hand with the attentive care put in the creation of this box. The Roccabox team that much effort to find a meaning and a real topic. With particular scents, a box like this risks being easily a hit or a miss. However, Roccabox kept surprising by pointing to quality, UX and usefulness.
All in all, Roccabox was an intriguing experience worth repeating, especially considering the size of the “travel size”, prices and, finally, that luxury feeling.
