The Korean skincare line made with rice extract from Yeoju sees a new member ready to welcome the nice season: I’M FROM Rice Sunscreen. This mineral sunscreen ($27) has passed SPF tests proving its safety and attesting its filter as 50+ and PA++++. It comes in a handy 50ml tube with muted white packaging like the rest of the collection.
Formula
I’M FROM Rice Sunscreen is formulated for all skin types and is a 100% mineral-based sun filter, so you can expect (non-nano) Zinc Oxide as its blocking agent against UVA and UVB. It doesn’t contain ethanol, artificial colourants, Oxybenzone or Octinoxate. The main ingredient is Goami rice extracts (41%) from Yeoju in South Korea to promote a smoother and brighter complexion and contribute to removing impurities.
Texture and scent
This sunscreen has a rather fluid texture so that it spreads and gets absorbed easier, which is an essential feature for mineral sunscreens. In fact, due to the blocking minerals, these look whiter on the skin and tend to sit on pores and fine lines if too thick. The scent is fresh and (very) subtly powdery, which means soft like (baby) powder in olfactory terms.
How to use I’M FROM Rice sunscreen
Apply it as a regular sunscreen after your daily moisturiser where you’ll be exposed to the sun. It has to be reapplied every 4 hours if outdoors or during activities outdoors to keep the protection level optimal.

Of course, different formulas and means translate into different fragrances, but this rice sunscreen still feels fresh and delicate. The texture, moreover, makes this mineral sunscreen way more acceptable and lighter on the skin compared to other brands’ options, although the typical white cast is still visible and annoying if you’re a Mediterranean person with a natural warmth.
One coat of I’M FROM Rice Sunscreen is enough when I work indoors in front of my window, and it actually feels like an extra moisturiser with a nice silky touch. Concerned about how much I spend typing in front of my sunny window (really sunny for the UK), I used a second coat but it just messed around. I regretted that.
