elmt Skin Illuminating Solution: product & packaging
Korean skincare brand elmt is pure minimalism, bottled. Of its skin solutions range, elmt Skin Illuminating Solution (regular price $20) is a versatile multipurpose brightening treatment. It comes in a 150ml deep green glass bottle, you can recycle after use, and biodegradable sugarcane packaging.
Formula
elmt Skin Illuminating Solution has a simple formula developed to lighten the skin and strengthen the skin barrier at once. In its rather short formulation, it’s easy to spot its key ingredients: grape and pomegranate extracts, and niacinamine. It’s packed with antioxidant Vitamin C grape water, grape seed and pomegranate extracts brightening the skin. While niacinamide helps strengthen the skin lipo barrier from environmental stress. To these, you’ll find panthenol, an active alcohol similar to pantothenic acid (Vitamin B5), a very light-feeling and tolerated ingredient that brings water to the epidermis.
Texture and scent
This watery solution has a light texture and a light viscosity; however, it gets absorbed fast and without any stickiness or oiliness behind it. It’s unscented and slightly yellow, a tinge of colour that’s almost imperceptible.
How to use elmt Skin Illuminating Solution:
elmt Skin Illuminating Solution can be gently patted with your hands or a cotton pad after cleansing in the morning and evening. It can layered with other solutions from the same #Frameless range, and be used in three different ways: as a toner, a preparation water or throughout the day to refresh your skin.
PROS:
- it’s delicate and suitable for all skin types;
- cruelty-free and vegan;
- free from silicones, artificial fragrances and colouring;
- it feels light;
- gets absorbed quickly;
- keeps the skin clean and hydrated;
- evens skin tone and lightens dark spots (with constant use).
CONS:
- None (so far)
When you read “The Skin Illuminating Solution is the only bottle you’ll need for glowing skin” you feel struck by a ray of hope. Glowy skin is a big aim with all those shiny beauties on Instagram but the truth is dark spots are a pain to treat. I’m here to show you what I managed to get with this elmt skin solution.

I used elmt Skin Illuminating Solution in the morning and the evening as a toner, in the month and a half between the before and after pictures, and later as a skin preparation water to follow a calming toner. This solution proved, indeed, to be very versatile and able to adapt to these small tweaks in my routine and new products. It did feel the exactly same in both ways of use: light and invisible.
The effect of this solution can be amplified if followed by Vitamin C-based skincare products and so I did. I first paired it a trial kit of Some By Mi Yuja Niacin – a brightening range – and later with dear, Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Charging Serum (coming soon on the blog). It seems to have worked.
My skin isn’t the dullest but I tend to develop dark spots on my cheeks and forehead after being exposed to sunlight; I also have some red patches on my cheeks and some grey areas here and there because mosaic skin is my trend, unfortunately.
elmt Skin Illuminating Solution helped to reduce the intensity of my sunspot and even my skin tone so that my cheeks were rosy and healthy, not patchy. The best parts are how light it feels and what it does.
You can use it as you prefer and it will get absorbed so fast you can continue your long Korean skincare routine a bit easier on a busy morning. Then, the extra clean feeling and added moisture turn it into a very helpful companion during transitional times of the year. Did you expect it to be hydrating as well?
As always, I wouldn’t rush into a product at the first big statement, but I know with constant use I can achieve considerable results, and this is clearly the case with elmt.
