How to: style a bridesmaid dress or a formal knee-lenght garment with 10 easy tips

Is your best friend getting married or is a formal event approaching? Don’t panic because styling a bridesmaid dress or a sleek gown without overdoing it can be quite simple.
Follow my easy “how to style a bridesmaid dress” tips to avoid stress.
As an example I’ve taken a Cheap Bridesmaid Dress that’s already a showstopper: an A line, knee-length dress in a light powder pink tone and lace details all over it.
This is a fresh and sweet model but it represents almost a complete outfit as it covers and decors the body, except arms. Below there are 10 easy tricks to style it.

1 Play with the colour palette without breaking the equilibrium:
s
ince powder pink is a very delicate shade, I suggest to use gold details to warm it up and a neutral colour like a beige pink for your shoes.

2 Wear small accessories: when the bust is covered with lace, use earrings and thin bracelets instead. Here I picked pearl earrings because there’s nothing elegant as pearls.
These from Promod Boutique Française are made of pink pearl and have strass closures for a modern twist.

3 Opt for a high up do and décor it with a jewel-hairclip or jewel-ponytail holder: a ponytail is ideal because it’s quick and easy to maintain, while it keeps the dress lace panels on the back and shoulders well visible.
4 A multi-ways bag is the smartest option ever: you can use it as a pochette, as shoulder or a cross body bag thanks to a chain you can remove or hide inside the bag.
This type of bags is great because you can use it over time after the big event and adapt as you like!
5 Heels are hot, but lower shoes are more comfortable and chic: wear them to avoid painful hours like these Mango décolleté with a 6,5cm-high heels.
6 Make-up made fresh and long-lasting: as a face base use a perfecting light cream to soften your skin and improve your skin colour like Maybelline Anti Fatigue Blur in Cool Rose or Warm Apricot. This non-greasy, non-sticky product will lighten dark circles, even your natural tone and create a smooth canvas for your make-up.
7 Create a radiant glow and a healthy flush with some gold highlights: you can achieve it with Pupa Like a Doll Golden Infusion pressed illuminating powder (see below how hypnotic it is!) and your favourite matte blush.
You can use a creamy blush and fix it with a mineral blushing powder to make it lasting longer. To set everything from face powder to eyeshadows you can use a setting spray like Avon make-up setting spray with vitamin A, C and E.

8 Nude lips, a mistake proof idea: here’s Notice Me Not Avon Ultra Colour Lip Crayon with swatches and extra usages. Jumbo pencils are very handy.
9 Say goodbye to falsies: enhance your natural lashes with a false lash effect mascara. Maybelline Lash Sensational Intense Black is pitch black, the blackest black ever.
It has a light formula, it lifts and curves your lashes for a waken up appearance.
10 Just one colour that strikes… on your nails!
As you have seen, everything is sift and nude, except gold for a rich highlighting, but you can dare with your nails. Nails are like business cards, take care of them, then choose a vibrant and warm colour that doens’t crack your style palette.
Here’s a cream orange called Orange Crush, the Gel Finish nail polish from Avon with the same effect and lasting power of traditional gel nail polishes.
I’ve tried them and I’ve noticed they have a nice colour payoff and a great intensity, plus they are 3 products in one bottle: base coat, nail colour and top coat and they don’t need UV lamp!

My dress example comes for Dressesofgirl and it’s made up of satin but it can be totally customized with your favourite colouror fabric among taffeta, organza, chiffon and elastic woven satin.
To finish off, remember that during a wedding, all the attention goes to the bride, but this doesn’t mean the bridesmaids have to be trivial or sloppy.
For sure, a perfect bridesmaid can’t wear white dresses, that’s the bridal colour for excellence, nor harsh styled gowns, very dark or dramatic (like red) colours.
I’ve chosen this delicate powder pink because it magnifies natural beauty and underlines womanhood with extreme elegance.
Wear your beautiful dress and shine… behind the bride!
