Today’s review is about COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence, a very well-known skincare product in the Asian market cosmo. Snail Mucin? It may sound gross but this secretion, properly prepared for human usage, is proven to fight ageing and hydration loss while helping to repair skin damages.

Are all these claims true? Let’s find out.
CORSX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence is a face treatment almost entirely consisting of pure snail extract. To be exact, this essence contains 96% of pure filtered snail slime.
But, what’s a face essence? When it comes to finding the exact difference between essences and serums, there are some disputes and confusion over the net, nevertheless, their textures can be quite similar, but it’s a treatment that goes after toner and before any serums and face cream.

CORSXAdvanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence is contained inside a sleek and sturdy 100-ml matte plexiglass bottle. Directions of use, both in English and Korean, are stamped all over the box which comes in handy. It’s suitable for all skin types and it’s recommended in case of acne, post-acne scars, dehydrated and problematic skin.
Texture
COSRX face essence is a clear product, almost scentless, with a jelly running texture. It may appear sticky but it gets absorbed into the skin very quickly.
It’s extremely light and seems to disappear once spread.
Effects
I was curious and scared because I know snail slime is very powerful, but this essence doesn’t irritate my sensitive and dry face areas, namely my cheeks and around my nose. It immediately leaves my skin smooth, ready to receive my moisturiser afterwards.
In 3 days, I got the first visible improvements: smoother texture, supple skin (less dry patches), thus more elasticity.
In one week, in just 7 days, my skin luminosity has increased and my pores started shrinking in size. Plus, with months of regular use, I noticed my fine lines around my eyes to be less visible: a gratifying result. I am not afraid to go outside without full makeup on, but just some concealer and face powder.
How to use CORSX Snail Mucin Essence: directions and suggestions
CORSX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence works very fast but it needs some precautions:
- it shrinks pores, hence I absolutely recommend using lighter, oil-free hydrating creams, and to wash your face always with warm water in order to ‘open‘ your pores and clean your skin deeply, otherwise, some breakouts and blackheads can occur.
- I also recommend not forgetting to protect every inch of your skin, where the essence has been applied. Indeed, I’ve noticed that this snail essence sensitises the skin to sunlight, thus some sunspots can appear without proper sunscreen. I do love applying CORSX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence also on my décolletage, where it has improved my skin texture, and I can’t forget to apply my SPF moisturiser there!
So far a great product that’s easy to use:
one drop of essence is enough for the whole face. It has to be rubbed, till it gets absorbed into the skin, while a bit of essence has to be gently dabbed around the eye area. I suggest using it also on neck and décolletage for homogeneous results. Don’t be scared, if you rub it, it won’t make your skin red or itchy.

- almost scentless;
- it dries quickly;
- it doesn’t irritate the skin;
- its packaging is sturdy;
- the pump dispenser is hygienic and avoids mess and wastage;
- it has no synthetic perfume (ingredient).
- it increases skin sensitivity to sunlight;
- it’s just available online.
You can see from the ‘before and after pictures‘ how my skin has changed after months of constant applications: my pores have been refined, and despite some blackheads still continuing to appear on my forehead, both my skin tone and texture get better.
Overall, my skin looks and feels to the touch and is smoother, radiant and very hydrated, so much that sometimes I forget my toner and night cream. Mea culpa!

There’s no place for doubts, at least for me. I totally recommend this product. Despite it can be bought mainly online and unfortunately isn’t a vegan product, I think it’s an effective treatment.
