Mediheal Black Eye Anti-Wrinkle Mask sheet mask – review

If you don’t know what a sheet mask is, you seriously need some updates! This wide-spreading skincare step and trend – as often happens – has started in Asia, South Korea in particular. This Korean Mediheal Black Eye Anti-Wrinkle Mask is an example, and I nicknamed it the ‘racoon mask’ for a fun but a quite obvious reason.

Mediheal Black Eye Anti-Wrinkle Mask: the product

Mediheal Black Eye Anti-Wrinkle Mask is a one-use sheet mask made of a black fabric-like material, and is an anti-wrinkle skincare treatment.

This mask is suitable for people suffering from dark undereye circles and puffy eyes, as well as for those showing early signs of ageing. This eye mask promises to restore elasticity and softness to the extremely delicate skin around the eyes. This eye treatment promises great stuff, and the mask itself looks quite funny: a black mask like those worn by superheroes – like my fave Zorro – and racoons.

Formula
Mediheal
Black Eye Anti-Wrinkle Mask contains anti-ageing and soothing active ingredients, such as marine collagen, hyaluronic acid, silk peptides and Phyto-botanical extracts (sesame, garlic, white mulberry, soy, rice, juniper, blackberry and blueberry extracts, rose and grapefruits oils, etc…).

Texture & Scent
The fabric is thick and sturdy, but very soft to the touch. The mask
 – once applied – adheres well to the face thanks to its serum. This sheet mask is carefully folded in half in its sachet but won’t break while you use it. Its antioxidant serum is a clear, slightly dense fluid with a pleasant floral scent.

How to use
The package contains the instruction in Korean, but the way of use is intuitive thanks to its kawaii illustrations. You can easily find some instruction in English online, here’s a little snippet…
Mediheal Black Eye Anti-Wrinkle Mask can be used at room temperature, chilled or heated by immersing the bag in hot water (40C°). Once applied, it can sit in place for 10 to 20 minutes.

I decided to try it ‘au naturel’, at room temperature, for around 20 minutes. After about 15 minutes, I flipped and reapplied it again. It the end, I gently massaged the serum left all over my eye area and eyelids. 20 minutes of pure relaxation, watching the ceiling and listening to the birds singing… the serum doesn’t drip and releases a pleasant freshness sensation. My eyes were quite swollen, but Mediheal Black Eye Anti-Wrinkle Mask helped me to relax my facial muscles and me, as well as de-puff my eyes while leaving the skin hydrated and smooth.

The mask surprised me for this smart detail: this disposable mask contains so much serum, it can be stored in a sterilised jar and used later on. I collected the serum until the last drop from the Mediheal Black Eye Anti-Wrinkle Mask package and stored it in the fridge. I’ve got 6 extra days of anti-age treatment! I used the serum both at morning and evening so that my skin has kept smooth and elastic throughout the week, and my eyes weren’t puffy or tired-looking at all.

A list of pros and cons would pointless at this point, indeed Mediheal Black Eye Anti-Wrinkle Mask has loads of pros: easy to use and relax; works while respecting the skin (its formula is very gentle). Even the main possible con – its disposable nature – is irrelevant here: I used this black anti-age mask as a real treatment for six days!

Mediheal Black Eye Anti-Wrinkle Mask is available, with some variation in prices, as a box of 3 10-ml pouches, in many k-beauty shops and Amazon. Mine is from My Beauty Routine, a very convenient store for those living in Italy (6€) because it applies no customs taxes and its shipping is pretty fast!
