Amazonliss Açai + Cacau smoothing treatment – review

My attempts to get straight hair continue, and this time with Amazonliss Açai + Cacau. The Brazilian keratin treatment can be quite expensive, who wouldn’t be on 7th heaven with a fraction of the actual cost? Actually, at-home hair kits are very convenient…

Nutree Amazonliss Açai+Cacau Brazilian treatment

Amazonliss Açai + Cacau is a starter pack with everything you need for a Brazilian treatment at home…

As you may know from my IG nonsense, I’m quite pleased when I finally get my hair straight, and I feel like another person! This happened with the new Nutree hair kit, Amazonliss Açai + Cacau smoothing treatment, but wait a min, ‘cacao’? It may sound delicious… at first.

Nutree Amazonliss Açai + Cacau: product & packaging

Nutree introduces its Amazonliss Açai + Cacau ‘from the heart of Amazon a new revelation’. The newest treatment is a starter kit with tools for a professional Brazilian straightening at home and a very first try. This system consists of 3 steps and 3 products in a handy box with 1 glove (just one?!) and three 60-ml bottles containing: an anti-residue shampoo (1), the Brazilian smoothing treatment (2) – the key step – and an intensive repair mask (3). The bottles are numbered corresponding to a passage of the sequence. You can’t get confused: the new Nutree smoothing system has got a step-by-step guide exactly like any hair colouring kit.

Formula & texture

Amazonliss smoothing treatment uses the anti-ageing properties of açai berriesrich in antioxidantand the hydrating power of cocoa butter for healthy-looking, hydrating and tamed hair. If you were wishing for an indulgent sensory experience, I might break your expectation: once you open the kit, you may be blasted by a strong scent. Each product in the Amazonliss Açai + Cacau kit has a different texture and fragrance. Excluding the second step – which results quite overwhelming – these products are delightful to use and remind of expensive salon treatments.

Step 1 is an anti-residue shampoo: unlike regular shampoo, it leathers in airy bubbles leaving the hair squeaky clean. The scent has red fruit notes and becomes a fresh and aquatic perfume. It aims to clean your locks from any sebum and old styling product while opening the cuticles for the next passage.

Step 2 is the main product of the kit. It aims to straighten your locks by aligning hair fibres and by fixing keratin with the heat. It’s a hydrolysed keratin solution with hydrating ingredients (shea butter, bubulum and olive oils), a long list of natural extracts along with base chemicals. It’s a powerful product which, surprisingly, consists mainly of botanicals. It has a fluid-creamy consistency with some bits in it. Its scent has an artificial strawberry note similar to Nutree Bottox Expert thermal mask but with a hidden cocoa hint. This is the sole product which, due to its odour and vapours developed during the drying process, requires a well-ventilated room and gloves to protect your hands. I warn you quite warmly: this treatment can’t be spread without proper protection.

Step 3 is an intensive repair mask which nourishes and gives a beautiful glow to your hair while protecting both your hair structure from heat and the achieved results from humidity. It’s a whipped cream which distributes
weightlessly into the hair. It contains hydrolysed soybean oil, hydrolysed soy, wheat, corn and rice proteins; açai berry extract, cacao extract and cacao butter. It’s a pleasant way to conclude this treatment and a premium sensory experience.

How to use:
These three products must be used in sequence and for the right time. Keeping the keratin straightened for longer won’t emphasise the result but may irritate your skin. Indeed, step 2 requires extra attention: never forget to wear your gloves; be sure you are in a ventilated room and don’t breathe its vapours. Apart from these precautions, the overall treatment is not as long or hard to do as it might sound.

Getting straight hair starts with a shampoo:

  1. apply step 1 onto wet air and massage to get a bubbly foam, keep
    it for a couple of minutes and rinse thoughtfully;
  2. dry your hair and keep them slightly wet;
  3. divide your hair into sections; wear your gloves and apply step
    2 at 1 centimetre from your roots;
  4. dry your air with your hair dryer set to cold temperature;
  5. straight each lock with your flat iron 8 to 10 times to fix the
    keratin;
  6. repeat the step on your ends 4 to 6 times;
  7. rinse your hair;
  8. apply step 3 and keep the mask 3 to 5 minutes;
  9. rinse off;
  10. dry your hair as usual

It looks time-consuming, but it shouldn’t take more than an hour get done. There’s plenty of each product, but the amount of shampoo solely depends on the volume, thickness and length of your hair. One shampooing may be enough but to play safe, I use it twice. The shampoo leaves the hair squeaky clean and a bit on the dry side; however, two shampooings hasn’t overdried it too much.

PROS:

  • it’s a complete kit,
  • effective,
  • inexpensive (compared to ordinary salon treatments),
  • it has a good quality-price ratio,
  • pleasant textures (step 1 and step 3),
  • its result is lightweight,
  • gives a super glossy finish.

CONS:

  • step 2 has an overwhelming scent (during application and fixation)
  • step 2 requires gloves and ventilated room
  • the overall process may be long
  • the kit contains just one glove

Pictures speak for themselves, but spending a couple more words will give you my personal sensation.

Amazonliss Smoothing Treatment results on coloured hair

At the end of the treatment, I felt I lost a bulk of hair and weight. Indeed, the final result is a feather-light and straight hairstyle. Hair is silky smooth and very neat with mended ends and tamed electrostatic flyaways. With my great surprise, an extremely glossy finish creates the sensation of very healthy hair. Hair seemed nourished and felt super smooth to the touch; my old hair colour was emphasised and renewed by the Amazonliss 3-step treatment. This totally surprised me because this keratin kit is supposed to lighten your coloured hair!

Amazonliss Açai+Cacu Smoothing Treatment by Nutree review by Valentina Chirico

Probably, this glossy effect – combined with the smoothness – won my resistance. I was astonished when I compared Nutree Amazonliss Smoothing Treatment against Nutree Bottox Expert thermal mask. Both products share the same function, precaution and step-by-step application with heat. But, in this new kit, a proper shampoo and finishing mask made the whole difference by prolonging and exalting the hairstyle. My hair looks smoother and glossier with the new Amazonliss, even though the full straight effect doesn’t last four months but diminish gradually after each shampooing.
