Rimmel London 60 Seconds SuperShine #828 Danny Boy, Blue! – review and swatches

It may be a sign of addiction. I saw this winking blue bottle while doing my groceries… and I came back with some food and Danny Boy, Blue!, my new Rimmel London 60 Seconds SuperShine for my collection.

I can’t feel sorry because these Rimmel London nail lacquers are really cheap and this #828 Danny Boy, Blue! has something particular…

Rimmel London 60 Seconds SuperShine #828 Danny Boy, Blue!: product & packaging

Rimmel London #828 Danny Boy, Blue! shouldn’t need a presentation for its own presentation. It comes in that familiar 8-ml bottle with its flat and round applicator, signatures of the 60 Seconds SuperShine range.

Texture and finish

If you remember my previous review about Black Cherries and Roll In The Grass – if not, check them by clicking their name – these Rimmel London 60 Seconds SuperShine nail lacquers feature a spreadable texture and auto-levelling formula. The shades from the same range I wore so far show these same characteristics. #828 Danny Boy, Blue! was an enjoyable surprise.

Today’s nail polish has a very liquid texture that the smooth formula allows to apply and layer evenly. With two coats, my nails were dressed up in this inky blue. The finish is high impact and surprising as well: a glossy finish with a hidden side…

Shade

Rimmel London #828 Danny Boy, Blue! is an authentic lapis-lazuli, a very intense and precious shade of blue. Let me say, an Egyptian blue.
Apart from the texture, that ‘SuperShine’, water-shine, an almost metallic finish has its secret in its chromatic component. At a closer look, you can spot a reddish haze. There are microscopic red particles that turn magenta with its blue base. Once again, Rimmel London made something simple a real gem.

The hidden secret: see the reddish reflection on the body of the bottle!

PROS:

  • it’s cheap;
  • fast-drying;
  • easy to apply;
  • no-staining (the nails);
  • it isn’t smelly;
  • it has a handy applicator;
  • bright shade with an unexpected finish.

CON:

  • none

From all angles, you can enjoy a refreshing gloss with #828 Danny Boy, Blue!

  • Rimmel London 60 Seconds SuperShine Danny Boy, Blue! nail polish on tanned skin
  • Rimmel London 60 Seconds SuperShine intense lapis lazuli
  • Stain-free blue nail polish Rimmel London 60 Seconds SuperShine #828

I should be insane or very picky to find a con in this humble (for the price) yet noble (for its rarity) nail polish. Find me a blue that doesn’t stain your nails or a blue that doesn’t look flat without glitter. Find that shade and a friendly price tag! Could you?

I built a sort of affection for this tiny Rimmel nail polish, and I honestly don’t know when I’ll get bored of it. From the many times, I found it in my stories, I suppose I’ll be wearing it for a while. Are you still looking for a blue like this? It’s around 3 pounds, and you can pop it in your trolley while buying some milk! (Milky white skin looks great with)
