AXIS-Y and the climate-inspired skincare, part 1: 611 Daily Purifying Treatment Toner – review

We usually don’t pay so much attention to the impact of weather and environment on our skin, but AXIS-Y does. The Daily Purifying Treatment Toner is just one piece of this climate-inspired skincare line that I am going to explore in three reviews…

Globetrotters and expats may have noticed that – at some point during their nomadic life – their skin reacted differently.

AXIS-Y has a complete line – called 611 – to tackle skin issues starting from basic steps like toning with the Daily Purifying Treatment Toner.

AXIS-Y Daily Purifying Treatment Toner: product and packaging

Following cleansing, AXIS-Y Daily Purifying Treatment Toner is the product that refreshes your skin, while clearing your pores and keeping inflammation under control. This toner comes in a solid 200ml green bottle with a screwable cap. It may not mean a thing to you but the label has an old-pharmacy-preparation touch to it. I would sayomething refined in its design. The ivory label and the typewriter-style font give this vintage feel.

Formula
This AXIS-Y formulation mixes Westerner skincare staples, like salicylic acid and tea tree, with one of the top Korean skincare ingredients of the moment: ‘cica’ or Centella Asiatica. The Daily Purifying Treatment Toner contains 0.5% salicylic acid, Centella Asiatica, aloe, sugar cane, tea tree, extracts of ginger, lemon, orange, grapefruit, and mugwort just to name a few.

Thanks to the combined action of the salicylic acid (BHA) and sugar cane (AHA), this toner exfoliates the skin; tea tree contributes to fights bacteria causing acne and soothes the inflammation; while ‘cicaspeeds up the healing process and strengthens the skin barrier. It’s formulated for oily and acne-prone skin.

AXIS-Y Daily Purifying Treatment Toner is part of the 611 Advanced Formula collection and it’s specifically for impure and combo skin or those affected by acne. It’s available on the AXIS-Y e-shop at a regular price of $25 and on other distributors online.

Climate-inspired and cruelty-free Korean skincare, AXIS-Y

As a teenager, I was quite snobbish about toners. Since I started with toning, I cannot skip my toner anymore. I often change it depending on what I feel I need the most. Having combination skin isn’t easy but, if sudden hormonal acne and dry patches in the oiliest areas become part of your life, then the situation gets complicated. When I saw written large and bright ‘BHA%’ on the label, I couldn’t ignore my hesitation. Honestly, I’m not a big fan of either salicylic acid or tea tree as they rarely help me in the long run and end up drying my skin even more

To my surprise, this daily toner didn’t dry up my skin during the first week of use, nor in the weeks after. I find it refreshing and smoothing, instead. My skin totally accustomed to it and very feels soft right after the application. I rarely see any redness on my face; my pores shrank in size and my face is less oily. It seems highly tolerable on combination skin and ‘borderline’ areas.

Balancing toner for oily, combo and acne-prone skin with BHA

Did AXIS-Y let me change my mind about BHAs, AHAs or, specifically, about salicylic acid? I wouldn’t say so but this brand certainly succeeded in making the most out of these two powerful groups of acids with the help of some Asian beloved ingredients. As a result, the 611 Advanced Formula Daily Purifying Treatment Toner is a balanced solution that works on its targets without overworking and stressing your skin.
My skin likes it!
