I’M FROM Fig Scrub Mask – review

This jar contains more than a skin treatment for me. There’s a season but also a place in my heart unlocked when I smell figs, like those in I’M FROM Fig Scrub Mask.

Raise your hands if you want more from your skincare. I’M From Fig Scrub Mask gives you two treatments in one whether or not you like eating figs.

I’M From Fig Scrub Mask: product and packaging

With I’M From you know what you get and from where. This time you get a two-in-one facial treatment with dried figs from Yeongam in the Southwest area of South Korea. I’M From Fig Scrub Mask isn’t a multipurpose product per se but a skin treatment that applies and works like two. This is a dual-exfoliating and conditioning mask that washes off like a fine scrub. It comes in two sizes, a trial tube (31 grams) – perfect if your skin is delicate or you’re new to the brand – and a full-size jar. The full version comes with 120 grams of product with a classic plastic spatula.

As you can expect from I’M From, the recycled packaging recalls the main ingredient in its shade and embossed design. This means more figs to rub, touch and feel.

Scent & Texture
If compared with I’M From Fig Cleansing Balm you’ll notice how different I’M From Fig Scrub Mask is. While the first is juicy and fresh, the second reminds me of some kind of dried fruits when I apply it or – as weird as it can get – clothes dried under the sun (by the sea). When you wash it off, you can feel a fruity touch although not as fresh as I’M From Fig Cleansing Balm. The texture is sandy but easy to spread, a texturised paste with fine grains and bits that doesn’t feel rough or aggressive on the skin.

Formula
The silicon-free formula of this scrub mask plays around two key ingredients you can clearly feel on your fingertips, fig powder (1.2%) and black sugar with sweet almond paste and walnut shell. I’M From Fig Scrub Mask works as a facial exfoliator in two ways: by dissolving dead skin cells and manually rubbing what’s left and impurities.

Combo skin has my green flag to go with this scrub&mask, but dry skin might want to test it first with a trial size for $8 because the full-size jar is $32.

Cruelty-free and vegan I'M FROM Fig Scrub Mask - review

There could be some emotions involved in this product but when I clear it from any “collateral feelings” I can’t find anything wrong with it nor my skin can. It’s easy to use and does more than a regular scrub or face mask can deliver. The scrub itself is very fine but effective because the sugar will do a portion of the dirty job. On combination skin, applying this sandy paste isn’t irritating at all but I would be careful or avoid it in case of very dry and sensitive skin. The after-feel is smoothing but also particularly moist. I used the term condition/conditioning because this effect can be also felt to the touch like a conditioner does with your hair, so to speak.

Results on combo skin with I'M FROM Fig Scrub Mask - review

I’M From Fig Scrub Mask is the third Korean sugar scrub and the third scrub mask I’ve tried so far. It’s contending the first place in my heart as my favourite scrub mask with dear, Klairs Youthful Glow Sugar Mask while I’M From Rice Mask is third (find the whole rice range reviewed here), and it’s certainly the second sugar scrub of choice after dear, Klairs and on the top of dear, Klairs Gentle Black Sugar Facial Polish which left me quite tepid (read more here)…
