dear, Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner: product & packaging
This bottle has been bought 3 million times so far and it would be hard to believe for a basic treatment like a facial toner. dear, Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner ($18.70 regularly at $22.00) is more than that by combining the actions of a toner and that of a gentle prep skin water to be suitable for all skin types.
Minimal is the dress code of all dear, Klairs products; this one is no exception. The 180ml bottle contains enough treatment for more than 6 months.
Formula
The key ingredients of this water-based preparation toner are beta-glucan, lipidure and hyaluronic acid to prepare the skin for the next step while releasing moisture for the deeper layers of your skin. Its balanced pH and added centella asiatica, portulaca oleracea and aloe vera extracts make this treatment a soft touch for sensitive skin.
Texture and scent
dear, Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner hasn’t got the typical texture you’d expect from your regular toner. This clear liquid has a slightly viscous consistency and its own density. It doesn’t feel like “water” but your skin won’t feel any weight upon application.
The bright aromatic scent is a relaxing and uplifting feature. This might be the blend of natural oil which includes a green citrus bouquet of lavender, lemon, eucalyptus and orange. If you don’t like to mix too many sensorial notes, this best seller is also available in an unscented version for you.
How to use Supple Preparation Facial Toner:
The recommended way of using dear, Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner is simply with your hands. Pat it after on dry, clean face and use the warmth of your hands to help absorption but I have my way of using it…
TOP TIP:
To make the most of the aforementioned double function – as a preparation water and face toner – I first apply a couple of drops on a cotton pad to remove any impurities or makeup residues on my hairline and contours.
I found out that this toner also helps remove hair dye stains gradually. Then I warm up a drop of toner between my hands and I pat it on my face as recommended. The texture – denser than water but lighter than a serum – gets absorbed in no time!
PROS:
- it’s suitable for all skin types, including sensitive;
- free from silicon, ethanol and artificial fragrance;
- cruelty-free and vegan-friendly;
- it gets absorbed quickly;
- feels soothing and comforting;
- leaves no residues;
- hydrates without extra weight.
CON:
- fragrance (subjective, not a problem for me).
I never skip the toner but I like having fewer steps to follow as well. This can be hard with combination skin and lengthy Korean skincare routines. I didn’t have much expectations of dear, Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner and didn’t want to because I tried a surprising exfoliating preparation water and I knew this wouldn’t deliver the same effect… so, how did it go?

I started with zero expectations about it, and I was instantly surprised by the oddly dense but light texture and aromatic scent. Hopefully, every area of my skin (both oily and dry areas) received it well from the first application. It’s like applying nothing at all, but the effect is evident application after application. After almost 6 months and half a bottle used, my skin feels cleaner and smoother and doesn’t get overwhelmed by this particular texture or the layers of hydration I follow.
I follow up with the rest of a hydrating skincare routine created with many dear, Klairs products, and my skin has happily adapted to the everchanging UK weather and humidity levels. All without either getting too shiny or too patchy. If you have combo skin, you don’t need to use more than one face toner: dear, Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner seems to work equally and “kindly” on every kind of skin.
