Rovectin Activating Treatment Lotion – review

For as much as we love Korean skincare, sometimes it feels too long to follow. Do you relate? Then, Rovectin Activating Treatment Lotion will cover two steps in one swipe for you.

2-in-1-Rovectin Activating Treatment Lotion

Rovectin Activating Treatment Lotion is a water-gel skin treatment that hypnotises with its bubbles but it isn’t a bubble tea.

Rovectin Activating Treatment Lotion: product & packaging

The Activating Treatment Lotion by Korean skincare company Rovectin is a toner and essence, a 2-in-1 product ($29) to hydrate intensively while strengthening your skin barrier from free radicals. It comes in a naked package: a slim 180ml bottle without a box but an eco-friendly label and wrap.

Formula
Its hypoallergenic formula is suitable for all skin types and contains plant-derived ingredients – such as licorice root, chamomille, centella asiatica, soybean and papaya extracts – and hyaluronic acid “to moisturize deep within the skin”. Rovectin Activating Treatment Lotion also contains caffeine and ingredients known to moisturise and protect the skin barrier: panthenol, arginine and niacinamide.

Texture and scent
No colour, no scent. This lotion looks clear like water but denser. Hence, the description on the label “water gel” gives the sense of the density you see in the bottle every time you shake, move, or roll it. All those bubbles are really inviting! To the touch, Rovectin Activating Treatment Lotion feels more like a fluid gel with a viscous side to it and a very light stickiness that doesn’t become heavy.

PROS:

  • it’s for all skin types,
  • hypoallergenic and gentle to the skin,
  • hydrating,
  • vegan-friendly,
  • cruelty-free,
  • it doesn’t contain artificial fragrances or colourants,
  • it’s 2-in-1
  • it has no superfluous package (= greener).

CONS:

  • it can feel sticky,
  • it doesn’t soothe specific skin irritation (hormonal acne).

No fluff, no fanciness. Rovectin Activating Treatment Lotion is as simple as it presents itself but its promises can feel quite big: “to soothe moisturize, and refine your skin without irritation” so the skin is ready for the next steps, but how did it work for me?

Rovectin lotion is surely a product that needs to be tested with one’s own time to find the right moment of the day and way of application. Due to its dense texture, I could feel it too much when dabbing and patting it dry, so I used cotton pads which helped me to minimise the feeling and speed up my routine even more.

When my skin is in an overall fine state, Rovectin Activating Treatment Lotion works as it should by simplifying my routine at night or, followed with other steps, by levelling up my hydration. No flaky patches have been noticed with Autumn approaching, which is a sign of success. But as my skin experienced some hormonal disruptions (again), this lotion little could do to soothe and refine my skin texture; moreover, I could feel the delicate skin around my temples thinning although hydrated and smooth…

All these may mean that Rovectin lotion is for all skin types, even the most sensitive and dry, but not for all ages and not for (irregularly) acne-prone skin but I find it more effective than Wishtrend in-house boosting essence.

I like making my life easier and if I can do the same with my skincare routine the better. Rovectin Activating Treatment Lotion seems to make my routine and hydration faster but I see some missing opportunities that my skin was expecting instead. I take this as a quenching treatment because it keeps some promises and I’ll go back to it when my skin will be back to its usual ‘behaviour’.
